Try an agent Test mode and live mode
Adjust your agent's instructions and try them straight away, without changing anything for your customers until you save. In test mode, each action shows what it would have sent, and nothing is sent.
Two ways to try
On the agent's page, the "Essayer" (Try) tab opens on test mode. A switch at the top, "Mode test | Mode live", changes mode. Each mode states its consequence at the top of its frame.
Test mode
- You write to the agent in the console, as a customer would.
- It answers with the instructions as they are written, saved or not.
- The trial creates no conversation and does not count in your plan.
- Its actions are simulated: nothing is sent.
- A voice agent is also tried in writing: you read its answers.
Live mode
- You reach the agent through one of its real contact points, from your own phone or on the web chat.
- It answers with the saved version of its instructions.
- The trial is a real conversation: it shows in Conversations and counts in your plan.
- Its actions run.
A shared link to the tab never opens a live trial by itself: only a link that names one of the agent's contact points opens live mode on it, any other link opens test mode.
Test mode: instructions beside the trial
The "Instructions" field sits on the left, the trial conversation on the right. Every change applies to the trial at once. As long as the instructions differ from the saved version, a note above them says so: your customers keep the saved version until you save.
- Save or cancel. The page's bar counts the unsaved changes and offers "Enregistrer" (Save) and "Annuler" (Cancel). Saving keeps you in the trial; from then on your customers get the new instructions.
- A draft kept in your browser. Unsaved instructions are kept in this browser: they survive a page reload or leaving the page. The draft is erased when you save, when you cancel, and when you sign out.
- Start again. The "Réinitialiser" (Reset) button in the conversation header brings the trial back to the agent's first message. It stays inactive until you have written something. The conversation scrolls inside its frame; the input stays on screen.
- Question ideas. Under the conversation, "Idées de questions" (Question ideas) fills in a first question for you.
- Instructions too long. The refusal shows under the "Instructions" field. Your message stays greyed out in the conversation, followed by "Votre message n'est pas parti : les instructions sont trop longues." (Your message was not sent: the instructions are too long.) Nothing is sent. When a trial reaches its maximum length, reset it to continue.
Simulated actions
In test mode, an action the agent chooses does not run: it is simulated, and shows in the conversation before the agent's answer of the same turn. The agent is told that nothing was sent, so it does not claim that an appointment was booked or a call transferred.
Folded: one line
The action's name, then the values the agent chose, with dates and times written out in French. For example:
« Prendre rendez-vous, simulée : mercredi 7 octobre, 10 h »
Unfolded: the request
It reads like the log of a request that was never sent. Each part is detailed below.
| Part | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Header | The method and path of the request, the "Simulée" (Simulated) tag and the time; the day as well when it is not today. |
| Summary | The action, the service it would call, and the status "Non envoyée (mode test)" (Not sent, test mode). |
| Variables | Each variable with its value and its source: "Déduite de la conversation" (deduced from the conversation), "Point de contact" (contact point) or "Valeur fixe" (fixed value). |
| Request body | What would be sent, with a copy button. Sensitive values are masked, and headers are never shown. |
| Response | Empty: "Pas de réponse : en mode test, la requête n'est pas envoyée." (No response: in test mode, the request is not sent.) |
An "Outil externe (MCP)" (external tool) action shows its tool and its arguments, with no method and no body. To learn what an action is and how its variables are filled, see Actions.
Live mode: through a real contact point
Live mode only offers the contact points that match how the agent answers: "Voix" (Voice) and "Ligne téléphonique" (Phone line) for a voice agent; "Chat web" (Web chat), "SMS" and "WhatsApp" for a text agent. Each is followed by its number, or "Pas encore de numéro" (No number yet).
- Voice, SMS, WhatsApp. The tab shows the number and a QR code: call it or write to it from your phone. On a phone line, you call your usual number and your switchboard passes the call to the agent.
- Web chat. The chat opens as it is saved, on a site page. Its settings live on the contact point's page.
- Live follow-up. Under the number, one line follows the conversation you are having: "En attente de votre message" (Waiting for your message), then the time the message was received, and "Voir la conversation" (See the conversation).
- Unsaved instructions. Live mode has no editor. If your instructions have unsaved changes, a line says that here the agent answers with the saved version, and offers "Revenir au mode test" (Back to test mode).
An agent with no contact point yet shows "Essayez l'agent comme vos clients" (Try the agent as your customers do) with "Ajouter un point de contact" (Add a contact point), above test mode.
Write the instructions first
The first message, the instructions and the agent's actions are set on the "Configurer" (Configure) tab.
