# On-Premise license: lifecycle and renewal

A signed license file, verified locally by the appliance with no call to Natalia (cryptographic signature Ed25519, NIST FIPS 186-5). Expiry never stops collection.

## License states

| State | What happens | Your action |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Valid | Normal operation. | Nothing. |
| Notifying | Starts 30 days before expiry. Banner in the interface, then a modal the day before expiry. | Order the renewal from your integrator partner or Natalia. |
| Grace | License expired. Banner with the number of days left before lock. Everything keeps running. | Install the renewal file. |
| Locked | Dashboard suspended. Collection, ingestion and the MCP server keep running: no ticket is lost. | Install the renewal file: the dashboard comes back immediately. |
| Anomaly | A license integrity check failed (invalid signature, clock tampering, hardware mismatch in strict mode). | Contact your integrator partner for a diagnosis. |

Notifications in the interface only

The appliance sends no email: it has no outbound mail server. Every reminder (banner, modal the day before expiry, escalations before lock) appears in the interface. Track the expiry date in your own contract calendar too.

## Renewal

Step 1/3

## Order the renewal

From your integrator partner or Natalia. You receive a new signed license.toml file.

Step 2/3

## Install the file

From the license banner ("Install license") or the lock screen: paste or drop the license.toml file. No restart.

Step 3/3

## Check

The banner disappears and the new expiry date applies. The installation is recorded in the audit log.

## Hardware fingerprint

The license can be tied to a fingerprint of the virtual machine. Two modes, set in the license:

| Mode | If the fingerprint changes |
| --- | --- |
| Tolerant (default) | Warning only. The appliance keeps running. |
| Strict | The dashboard locks until a license matching the new machine is installed. |

Planning a migration to another host or hypervisor? Tell your integrator partner beforehand: a strict-mode license is reissued for the new machine.

## Emergency license (72 h)

Dashboard locked by an incident (hardware replacement, disaster recovery) while the final license is being reissued? Natalia can issue an emergency license.
